This year’s big Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase has come and gone, the 2025 edition bringing with it some big announcements and brand-new game reveals across two packed hours of ads for F2P action RPGs and online shooters.
For gamers hoping to hear something, anything about an arcade mascot racing video game in 2025, I have great news – announced during the show, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has locked in a September 25th release date across all major consoles and PC.
That’s not the only bit of news for this high octane, multi-dimensional Sonic racer, though. The Summer Game Fest trailer also revealed that SEGA is bringing some special guests along for the ride as playable racers, including Hatsune Miku, Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga and Persona 5’s Joker. The game will boast the biggest roster the franchise has seen yet with 23 playable racers at launch, and more added post-launch.
On top of all that, it’s also been revealed that the game will get paid Season Pass content that will add even wilder crossovers, the first example being Minecraft, of all things. I’m not sure how I feel about the aspiration of turning this game into a content hub for a bit of extra licensing cash, but if folks are into it I won’t stop ’em.
Take a look a the new trailer below:
