Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Is Getting A Physical Release In Australia

And Final Fantasy VII too, I suppose…

If you’ve been following us long enough here at WellPlayed, you’ll no doubt be aware that Final Fantasy VIII is pretty much my favourite video game of all time. It’s a game that I replay almost yearly, and one for which I own so much merchandise. So what’s a little more?

Square Enix announced today that last year’s Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be getting a physical release for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on December 4, 2020 (the day before my birthday, coincidence?). On PlayStation 4 it’ll be a standalone physical release, and on Switch it’ll come in the same twin pack with the original version of Final Fantasy VII that released in Japan some time ago.

I actually own the twin pack on Switch already, so while that’s sure to excite a lot of Final Fantasy fans I’m personally here for one thing only.

This beautiful bastard:

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

Square Enix has promised these physical releases will come to a number of regions, and that includes Australia, but local retail information is still to come at the time of writing. Here’s hoping it’ll be easy enough to get a hold of.
