Returnal Developer Housemarque Is Teasing An Announcement For Tomorrow And I’m Hyperventilating

I’ve got my eyes on this

Finnish developer Housemarque has taken to X with a mysterious post that teases some sort of reveal that will take place tomorrow.

The post from Housemarque shows a pair of familiar eyes looking through shattered glass or reflected on a broken mirror, accompanied by the word TOMORROW. This tease hints at a reveal coming three years to the day since the launch of the studio’s roguelike hit Returnal. The timing and the fact that the eyes in the image are almost certainly Selene’s, the stranded protagonist of Returnal, all but confirm that whatever tomorrow brings will be related to the game.

While it might be fun to jump to conclusions and assume this means more DLC, like the Ascension update that brought with it a challenge mode and co-op gameplay, there’s one more thread here that suggests a multimedia reveal instead. Dark Horse Comics, publisher of graphic novels, comic books and art books, went ahead and reposted Housemarque’s tease, which likely means that this mystery reveal will be a comic set in the Returnal universe, or at least a very pretty art book.

One way or another, we don’t have long to wait. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to refreshing the Housemarque X account.

In our review, we gave Returnal a 9.5, saying, “An intriguing narrative, graphical excellence and some impressive utilisation of the DualSense controller and Returnal might just be an instant PlayStation classic.”

What would you like this tease to end up being? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
