Nintendo recently released a video detailing how you can sign up for…wait, they just showed Bowser’s exact date of birth?
Nintendo has released a short, two-minute video in its How-To series that highlights how to create a Nintendo account, walking viewers through the entire process. Sure sure, that’s helpful and all, cheers Nintendo, but it’s not what we’re here to talk about.
Much like the parental controls video from 2017, Mario’s long-time nemesis Bowser is the one going through the motions in this video, filling in the required fields with his name, e-mail address, password and, critically, his official, canonical, rock-solid date of birth.
Regardless of the fact that the giant spikey turtle first debuted in the original Super Mario Bros. back in 1985, King Koopa claims that he was born on February 5, 1989.
Yep, that’s right, Bowser is currently 34. He’s a millennial.
Bowser being in his mid-30s certainly goes some way in justifying his nasty attitude. The guy is a single father with a huge mortgage on his castle that a dodgy plumber is constantly destroying. AND interest rates are continuing to rise. There’s no wonder why he breathes fire and stomps about. Also, that airship he bangs around in suddenly makes sense when you consider that it was likely an early midlife crisis purchase.
I’ve already covered the big news from the video, but if you would like to learn more about setting up a Nintendo account, you can watch the revelation-filled clip here:
