In Celebration Of Hobbit Day Weta Workshop Announces Tales of the Shire

After all, why not?

I hope you have finished your second breakfast, because Private Division and Weta Workshop have announced Tales of the Shire, a new cosy Hobbit lifestyle sim game set in the world of The Lord of the Rings.

This is of course part of the amazing celebration known as Hobbit Day; something I was not fully aware of, but will be marking my calendar to remember next September 22.

The trailer says nothing, but the actual title probably says all we need to know – it will be Shire-centric, which is a place we would all like to reside in. The moniker of “cosy” to describe the game is also a promising descriptor – making me wonder if we might be getting a Stardew Valley-like experience, albeit within the world of Proudfoots and Tooks.

With the teaser done, we now need to cast our gaze forward to 2024 to see what exactly is in store for us all. I hope it has a rigorous meal schedule, and a deep skill tree for the preparation of potatoes.

Are you keen for a new Lord of the Rings game that isn’t Gollum?  Let us know in the comments or on social media.
