Phoenix Labs Lays Off More Than 100 Employees In Restructure

Another yikes to deal with

The layoff number has grown further today, with Dauntless and Fae Farm publisher Phoenix Labs confirming more than 100 employees have been let go from the company following an internal restructure.

Citing a need to maintain focus on its two key live service games, Phoenix Labs has also cancelled any and all other projects that were in development. According to Polygon one particular title was apparently nearing an announcement, potentially at the upcoming Summer Games Fest, but will now not see the light of day.

“We are reorganizing Phoenix Labs to focus on our best-in-class live service titles, Dauntless and Fae Farm, and serving their communities,” the studio said in an official statement posted to their LinkedIn, “This restructure has not come easily, and truly has been the last resort to ensure Phoenix Labs can survive, and thrive in the long term. It’s impossible to put into words how deeply we value every talented individual who has contributed their hard work and passion to every project at our studio.”

It’s just another in a long line of layoffs that has caught many an employee unawares across the industry in 2024, including many of the biggest names in the industry.
