Nintendo has announced that a 40-minute Nintendo Direct showcase will be taking place on June 19 at 12am AEST.
Summer Game Fest is in the rearview, along with the PlayStation State of Play And Xbox Games Showcase, so there’s just one more big box to tick off. We knew that a major Direct was bound to drop sooner or later, but then Nintendo went ahead and gave us less than a day’s notice. The announcement, made on X, confirms that the showcase will run for roughly 40 minutes and will be focused primarily on “games coming out in the second half of 2024.”
Interestingly, the post outright states that there will be no mention of new hardware, which is vital to set expectations, as we’re all eagerly watching the red brand to see what they have in store for the Switch’s younger, cooler sibling.
Join us for a #NintendoDirect livestream focused on #NintendoSwitch games coming in the second half of 2024! There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.

As this will likely be Nintendo’s big showcase for 2024, it’s reasonable to assume that some big-ticket items will show up. Whether we get true heavy hitters like Metroid Prime 4 and Hollow Knight: Silksong is yet to be determined, but I’m sure those two announcements would make a lot of folks very happy.
