I love Indie World Showcases. I always come away with even more games on my already-loaded wishlist. There’s always something for everyone and lots of unique game styles and art styles. Check out our recap of all of the games shown off today:
The first game off the mark is Venba, Cooking Mama meets an Indian family that has moved to Canada. The food and art style looks lovely and the cooking mini-games look fun. Releasing in Autumn 2023.
We get another look at GOODBYE WORLD, a pixel art game where game devs are trying to make games in a retro-styled puzzle platformer. Releasing later this month.
Have a Nice Death is coming to Nintendo Switch! This spooky rogue-like looks like a lot of fun, particularly if you love Hollow Knight. Arriving on Switch on March 22, 2023.
Aka looks absolutely adorable. A cute red panda main character, giant capybaras, and a peaceful open world of islands where you can spend your time however you like. Releasing on December 15.
Pepper Grinder sees a shipwrecked and robbed treasure hunter use her trusty drill grinder to reclaim her stolen goods, drill through terrain and collect goodies. Releasing in 2023.
Coffee Talk, the coffee -brewing, narrative-driven visual novel, is getting a second episode in Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly. Episode 2 is releasing in Autumn 2023.
ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is the first game from a brand-new studio. ONI is a 3D action-adventure where Kuta, an Oni, teams up with a spirit to do away with other demons. You have to control both characters at once, one per joycon. It looks adorable. It is releasing on March 9, 2023.
From the makers of Monument Valley, Desta: The Memories Between is a character-driven, rogue-like metaphorical ball game. When Desta falls asleep they fall into a dreamworld of forgotten faces and mysterious orbs for playing a turn-based ball game. Releasing in Early 2023.
A Space For The Unbound is a slice-of-life pixel art game set in 1990s Indonesia following two characters on a journey of self-discovery. When a mysterious power threatens their town they must search their small town and the minds of its inhabitants for answers. Releasing January 19, 2023.
Dordogne took my breath away. This ethereal watercolour art style blended with animation is an absolute breath of fresh air. The game follows Mimi, who returns to her late grandmother’s home to recover the memories of her childhood. Releasing Autumn 2023.
Botany Manor follows a retired botanist who has a massive manor all to themself. Solve plant-based puzzles and preserve an array of plant-based flora. Inspect the manor for clues to help you grow an array of plants. Releasing in 2023.
Improvise your own theatre show in Once Upon A Jester in order to steal a royal diamond but they need to get an invite to the Royal Theatrical Spectacle. This quirky-looking game is set in a kingdom where anything can happen. Releasing later today.
Anyone can be a hero in the sequel to Rogue Legacy. In Rogue Legacy 2 the adventure changes in every play through, gather riches and ensure your legacy. All of your upgrades carry over to your heirs and each new successor wields their own unique traits and abilities. Releasing later today.
Experience an unlikely friendship between a wolf cub and a fawn in Blanc. You must utilise both characters to solve puzzles to help these young animals return to their families. This adventure is hand-crafted, monochrome and text-free, making it a highly accessible game. Releasing as a console exclusive on February 14, 2023.
Now for some highlights: WrestleQuest (May 2023), Wobbledogs Console Edition (November 17), Storyteller (March 23, 2023), WORLD OF HORROR (Winter 2023), Curse of the Sea Rats (Early 2023), Inscryption (December 1).
A Little to the Left was shown off in the recent Wholesome Games Showcase. This tidying-up puzzle game will make your OCD tendencies incredibly happy. There’s even a cheeky cat. Releasing later today.
One more thing! Finally an update on Sports Story. In this sports RPG, you prove your prowess on the golf course, tennis court and soccer field. There are even more sports in this quest for athletic excellence. You can go on quests and explore dungeons too! Releasing this December.
