Helldivers 2 is still a comparatively young title – given that it’s time on this Earth only started back in February – but it has steadily had a plethora of content added to it. New guns, strategems and even walking machines of death have all made their way into the arsenal of players – but not all boom is created equal, as there is a clear distinction between the good tools of death and the less exciting ones.
Players have been begging for some kind of review to happen, and it appears the crew at Arrowhead is working to make this a reality. While a weekly update schedule was never established as a guaranteed routine, players did notice that this week just gone came and went with no patch. Inquisitive players probed the devs, and a simple response of “We are cooking” was offered.
And now, via the Helldivers 2 Discord we have a little more information – and it’s far from a small meal being offered up.
As observed by Reddit user Key_Negotiation_9726, changing 24 things is pretty hefty when you account that a Helldivers potential arsenal includes:
- 26 Weapons
- 7 Grenade Types
- 51 Strategems
Of course, ‘tweaks’ and ‘changes’ can fill a player with dread – I know I personally reached out to one of my core diving buddies to lament what future might await us. There have been some heavy handed changes to weapons within Helldivers 2, leaving many scratching their head as to how on Earth such a fix was meant to help with player choice.
But, further clarification was offered via Helldivers community manager Spitz and collected by a Mod from the Helldivers Subreddit:

Well alright then. Out of all the changes, only a tiny minority are considered to be nerfs – and they are nerfs to ammo economy within the game (ie, how much reserve ammo do you have in your pocket) rather than outright number shifts. That seems overwhelmingly manageable, considering that some of the more recent weapons have felt incredible girthy in regards to their ammo capacity – such as laser guns that can effectively have infinite ammo if managed correctly.
That is worthy of a sigh of relief – at least in some capacity. These details are coming from a community manager after all, there is still plenty of time for a dramatic shift in direction.
Just please don’t hurt my precious LAS-16 Sickle.
Are you excited to see a big shuffle of weapons within Helldivers 2? Are there any unsung heroes that you are hoping to see rise to the top? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
