Helldivers 2’s Latest “Stealth” Addition Is A Properly Gigantic Worm

Ah yes, of course they hid something

Mere days after dropping a legendary Halo: ODST inspired crossover, Helldivers 2 ramps up the terrifying dangers that dwell beneath your feet by inviting all able-bodied troops to delve into a new range of nightmarish bug caverns.

The update, titled “Into The Unjust”, asks a simple question – What if we went to some of the Bug home worlds, and they were just awful?

With it comes all manner of new nasties, as one would expect. These are even well detailed in the release notes for the patch – comprehensive and exciting as they are – speaking to dark, damp places and skittering terrors that are ready to punish you for digging deeper into the soil.

Seriously, the notes appear to be beautifully robust:

But once again, those sick bastards at Arrowhead have left the best surprises out of their documentation – keeping them as glimpses and teases within the marketing media – so that the brave souls that are trying to bring Democracy to these vile planets can deal with the pants-shitting experience of having one of THESE explode out of the ground:

So yes, we knocked on the door of the Hive Lord’s home – and the big bastard answered. Current math suggests that it takes a great deal more than a Hellbomb to take these guys out, so you might want to double (and perhaps triple) the amount of nukes in your back pocket.

It’s another brilliant surprise to discover first-hand within the game, and a big part of what has people so excited for new content updates. The boffins over at Arrowhead are setting the standard for how a live-service game should work – without tumbling into the pitfalls of what makes them not work.

If you are playing Helldivers 2 today, check beneath your feet. It may well be a GIANT WOOORM. Tell us all about your experience dealing with it in the comments or on our social media.
