Helldivers 2 Will Be Dropping Onto Xbox This August

Imagine if they have to log in via a PSN account

A little over 18 months have passed since Helldivers 2 crashed into our lives, and today the developers at Arrowhead have announced that reinforcements are incoming – with the game launching on Xbox Series X|S this August.

A announcement livestream was made available to all, which had players sitting for over an hour to get the two-and-a-half minute update from Johan Pilestedt that our request for “more dudes” had been approved.

It genuinely could have been an email, but hey, it was some big news.

Via Xbox Wire, Arrowhead Games Director Mikael Eriksson made the following statement:

We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun

This marks a very substantial PlayStation-published game coming to Xbox consoles, with cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC kicking off on August 26. Two editions of the game are now available to preorder on Xbox Series X|S: the base version for $64.95AUD and a ‘Super Citizen Edition’ for $94.95AUD.

The Xbox Wire post also makes mention that the emergence on Xbox has been made possible via a co-development with Nixxes Software, who tout porting as one of their specialties – likely marking them as a big component for making this happen.

Considering the enormous galactic events that have happened so far, I shudder to think what may be around the corner that facilitates the need for reinforcement of this scale. Maybe the invasion of Super Earth was just the beginning.

Sweet Liberty.
