Resident Evil 2 – The Board Game Kickstarter Funded Within One Hour Of Launching

The Resident Evil 2 board game was funded within one hour of launching and broke Kickstarter in the process

Designed specifically for the Resident Evil universe, Steamforged Games have set out to create a strategic game of cooperative survival horror in the form of a traditional board game, and judging by the fact that their campaign broke Kickstarter, I’d say that their feat will become a success.

This game, launched through Kickstarter, reached its goal within just one hour of the campaign going live because of generous backers such as our very own Zach Jackson who so graciously decided to drop some of his hard earned coin on it.

It’s no wonder how the project got funded in such a small timeframe, just have a look at its Kickstarter video below:

Although obviously no small feat by any means, the fact that the game was funded so quickly, means that backers are now able to contribute to the projects stretch goals!

These stretch goals include:

  • Four alternative male zombie figures,
  • A flamethrower card,
  • A number of alternative zombie dog figures,
  • A custom handgun card,
  • A number of alternative RPD zombie figures (including flaming and crawling variations!),
  • A custom magnum card,
  • An alternative Licker figure,
  • An Ivy figure,
  • A zombie Marvin figure,
  • A giant spider figure,
  • And even new Player Character figure, Sherry Birkin!

That’s not all, however, as the team are constantly adding new stretch goals to be unlocked.

As an extra special incentive to celebrate the success of the backer campaign, the team are making the Giant Alligator figure an optional purchase available for ALL BACKERS!

In order for backers to get their hands on one, they simply have to increase their pledge by +£24.

The board game experience created by Steamforged is intended for 1-4 players, and for those wanting to back the project, you can head to the campaign page here.

So, with all of this awesome information in mind, will any of you be sending the campaign some of your coins? Let us know what you think of this massive Kickstarter in the comments below.

Tegan began gaming with her father when they would play Street Fighter together on her Nan’s PlayStation. Since then she has fallen in love with indie games, AAA games (I’m looking at you Tekken) and everything in between. Starting off as a console player, and more specifically an Xbox player, Tegan has now recently begun her new gaming ventures on PC. You can find her playing dating sims on Steam @carrotphernelia if you so wish.
