PlayStation has announced that the next PS5 update will include improvements to Discord integration, making it far easier to join voice chats using the service.
As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, this new update is making a change to how players join Discord voice channels, allowing them to jump in without the use of the Discord mobile or desktop app. Once the update rolls out, joining a voice chat will be as simple as navigating across to the Discord tab on the Game Base, finding the right server, and then selecting your desired voice channel. Don’t stress; if you’re looking to avoid that one mate who has “already done this level” and spoils the fun, you’ll get a preview of who is in the channel before you join.
The update is rolling out over the next few weeks, with the schedule being “Japan/Asia, followed by Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and the Middle East, and finally the Americas.”

The blog post also highlights a new feature coming to the PlayStation App, which will make it easier to share your profile across social media platforms and messaging apps. Once live, this feature will add a “Share Profile” option that generates a link or QR code that you can send to that like-minded person you met at your local pub who wants to play Helldivers 2 with you.
