Dragon Quest XI Getting Western Release in September

Let’s not let this release drag-on

After a long wait, Dragon Quest fans have finally got a solid date to look forward to for the western release of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Publisher Square Enix have announced that the game will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Steam on September 4 this year.

More than just an translated version of the well-received JRPG, Dragon Quest XI’s English release will also feature a number of gameplay improvements, including an overhauled UI, a first-person camera mode and new difficulty settings.

DRAGON QUEST® XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age™ tells a captivating tale of a hunted hero and is the long-awaited role-playing game from series creator Yuji Horii and character designer Akira Toriyama. While it is the eleventh mainline entry in the critically acclaimed series, DRAGON QUEST XI is a completely standalone experience that features entirely new characters, a beautifully detailed world, finely tuned turn-based combat, and an immersive story that will appeal to longtime fans and franchise newcomers alike.  After its release in Japan, DRAGON QUEST XI won multiple gaming awards and received critical praise, including PlayStation’s Platinum Prize and a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu (an influential video game publication in Japan). DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming to North America this September.

Sadly, the 3DS version of the game that originally released in Japan won’t be getting an English release at all, but we’ll at least have a Switch version to look forward to sometime next year. Check out an 8-minute gameplay demo of the English version of Dragon Quest XI below:
