Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Out Now On PS4 And Switch

To the surprise of no one, I’m always excited by the prospect of more Star Wars content, especially in the form of games. That’s why when Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast popped up on PS4 and Switch last year I was straight on it as I slowly remembered how hard that game was.

Alongside the launch of Outcast, it was also announced that in 2020 the follow-up, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy would also be hitting the PS4 and Swich. Well I am happy to tell you that today is that day.

This blast from the past is available to download from the eShop and PlayStation Store right now.

First releasing back in 2003, Jedi Academy pits you as a fresh-faced Jedi learner making their way to the new Jedi Temple run by none other than Luke Skywalker. As the game begins, you will customise your character, choosing from a number of different races and styles, before creating your very own lightsaber, choosing the hilt as well as the blade.

The singleplayer story sees you learning the ways of the force, honing your skills with a lightsaber and ultimately choosing your own fate, whether that be following the light or dark side of the force.

This is all incredibly exciting stuff, but the summit of this mountain is the fact that the game’s brilliant multiplayer is also returning. With six different modes, including capture the flag and the chaotic free-for-all, up to 16 online players can force push each other off of cliffs to their heart’s content.

The controls have been updated for modern consoles and the graphics have also been touched up (though you shouldn’t expect Fallen Order level of detail).

This alongside the news that we will be getting Star Wars Episode I: Racer later this year, I’m not sure how much more my nostalgia can take.
