Alex Kidd In Miracle World Is Getting The DX Treatment

Jan Ken Pon!

Old-school SEGA fans have been a little spoilt lately. With games like ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove and Streets of Rage 4, we’re slowly seeing some of our favourites stage beautiful, HD comebacks. While Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX isn’t a totally new game like those two examples, it looks like a lovingly-crafted update to quite literally the first video game I ever played.

Published by Merge Games, developed by Jankenteam and announced at IGN’s Summer of Gaming 2020 event, the game is a high-definition remaster of the classic Master System pack-in. More than just that though, it includes brand new levels, alternate boss fights and modes and (of course) a ‘retro’ option to switch back to the original presentation. I can honestly say that I can still know every level in this game like the back of my hand, so knowing the team are shaking things up with extras and tweaks is exciting.
