After a fun little cinematic debut, newcomer Sierra has now been graced with a proper gameplay showcase to get us up to speed on what that whacky gun is capable of.
And good lord, that isn’t even auto-aim – that is straight up heat seeking bullets.

So Sierra fills the DPS role within the game, with a slew of fun toys that play to anti-air options and movement possibilities.
She also comes packing a fun little shockwave grenade that really resembles Doomfist’s Seismic Slam, but as a conveniently pocket-sized throwable.

Right off the bat, I am surprised by her interesting gun gimmick. It has a unique firing spread (basically the the pattern that the bullets make) and it requires sustained fire to gain accuracy. It’s an odd choice for Overwatch, which usually has a fairly traditional approach to bullet spread. This unwieldiness is very likely to play into Sierra’s first major ability, Tracking Shot, which fires a dart into an enemy and immediately makes her gun instead fire player-seeking rounds (that look a lot like Halo’s Needler rounds).
Her drone, D.O.R.O.T.H.Y, looks deployable within the world and then can be used as a grapple point for her to gain some vertical movement. As a deployable item, my first question is whether enemies can shoot it down – and more so, does it do anything ‘drone-like’, such as spotting or highlighting players? I am guessing that no real mention or demonstration of that kind of capability means nope.
Her ultimate is a basic one, it’s an area nuke, seemly in a straight line in front of her. Call me old fashioned, but I am glad to see a bread-and-butter area denial tool in her kit instead of some intensely complicated thing. Sometimes blowing stuff up is just the ticket.
