Remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas are in the final stages of development and could launch later this year according to Kotaku.
The report states that several sources have told Kotaku that Rockstar Dundee (formerly Ruffian Games) is leading development on the remasters and that they will be a mix of “new and old graphics,” with the games being developed in Unreal Engine. Furthermore, the remasters will be packaged together digitally and are rumoured to be landing on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X&S, Nintendo Switch, PC, Google Stadia and mobile devices when they do release.
Kotaku further writes that the launch of the remasters was going to coincide with the nu-gen release of GTAV and GTA Online and given to those who purchased the nu-gen versions as a thank you gift, but plans changed and the remasters were pushed to 2022. However, it now appears that Rockstar wants to launch the remastered trilogy this year, with a potential release in late October or early November on the cards for the console versions, with PC and mobile versions expected to launch in 2022.
