Actually, Those Transformers Games Are Not Missing After All

So…can we have them now?

In a rather hilarious turn of events, representatives of Activision have taken offence to the Hasbro design team, claiming that the files for Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron were missing. Over the weekend, we published a piece where it was speculated that those games could absolutely make a comeback, however, Activision was “not sure what hard drives they’re on in their building”.

However, as this headline has spread across the internet like wildfire – people closer to the Activision hard drives have made their own comments.

This is fantastic news if only to quell the stomach-churning thought of the games being lost to time. It does, however, open the door to a new concern: Are they going to re-release the games now or not?

Others have also tapped into their local Activision resources to clarify the above and further cement the truth that these banger titles are not lost on a random USB in a long-forgotten drawer:

So it does appear that it isn’t simply a case of “He said, she said” – these files are absolutely present and accounted for. The only roadblock that persists is the awkward lack of a licensing deal for Activision to actually distribute the game – they lost their Hasbro license years ago. Maybe an agreement can be made on a piecemeal basis? Or can Hasbro secure whole ownership of some of these games for an eye-wateringly high fee?

Only time will tell. But at least for now, we can rest easy that the games aren’t just outright missing.
