Toys For Bob Is Spinning Off To Become An Independent Studio

Spinning like a particular bandicoot they are familiar with

Those talented folks over at Toys For Bob have made a big announcement today, revealing that they are aiming to operate as  an independent developer moving forward.

This means that they will no longer exist as an entity under the lofty Microsoft Activision, but as a standalone company.

Reading through their statement, it seems to be an extremely amicable split – not a messy ‘jumping ship’ after the completion of the Microsoft merger as some might assume.

The blog statement even makes it clear that they are exploring a possible partnership with Microsoft moving forward, which makes a great deal of sense when you see their track record with now Microsoft-owned IPs like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.

It’s a fantastic bit of news, considering that the landscape of gaming studios is the most perilous it has ever been. Giant corporate entities are shedding workers and even closing entire studios to keep their ship afloat, so Toys For Bob taking their destiny into their own hands is great to hear – especially if it means they can return to crafting amazing games again, and step away from the salt mines of Call of Duty development assistance.

Are you excited to see how Toys For Bob prosper moving forward? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
