With AFL finals fever taking over, the long-awaited release of AFL 23 on Xbox will finally happen on September 22 – this Friday.
The new date has been confirmed by JB Hi-Fi, which now has the September 22 release on the game’s online product page.
It’s been a long wait for Xbox owners, with the release plagued by constant delays while PlayStation and PC owners playing the game since its release on May 4.
It hasn’t been a great season for developer Big Ant Studios, with the developer coming under fire for the game’s poor launch state, missing modes and features, and lack of communication. While the game has improved a lot since its launch, many players still believe there’s a lot of work to be done to get it up to a satisfactory level. The Xbox release date is certainly good news, however there is still no word on when Pro Team will find its way into the game.
I reviewed the game when it came out, scoring it a 5 and saying that “When AFL 23 delivers on its on-field vision it’s the best Aussie Rules video game out there, but the lack of execution and content means that it’s not quite the contender it could have been.”
