Apex Legends’ New Stories From The Outlands Explores Bangalore’s Backstory

Apex Legends has received a new Stories from the Outlands trailer, titled Gridiron, that focuses on Bangalore’s past.

One of the original eight Legends to launch with the game, Bangalore has always been a stoic and focused soldier with a past largely shrouded in mystery. Stories from the Outlands: Gridiron pulls back the curtain on Bangalore’s backstory, showing players how she made her way to the Apex Games.

Gridiron opens on the planet of the same name, where the final battle of the Frontier War is taking place. Anita (Bangalore), a member of the IMC at the time, is seen tangling with an opposing pilot and becoming injured. Later waking in a med bay, Anita seeks out her brother, Jackson, who also took part in The Battle of Gridiron. Reuniting with Jackson, we see Anita come to realise that they’re stranded in the Outlands, with Jackson having started a life post-war.

Torn between staying loyal to her brother and her cause, Anita sends an SOS signal to what’s left of the IMC, leading to the arrival of a hardened Commander that sees Jackson’s defection as a crime worthy of death. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Bangalore is forced to make a choice and deal with the repercussions. I won’t spoil everything, because this Stories from the Outlands is absolutely worth a watch.

Stories from the Outlands always provide excellent slices of lore, but Gridiron goes a step further, managing to humanise a character that many see as nothing more than a soldier. Whether you’re a Bangalore main or not, this is required Apex content for anyone that cares about the game’s light narrative.
