Arabian Nights-inspired ‘City of Brass’ to Leave Early Access in May

Featuring whips, Arabian mythology, and lots of skeletons

Australian studio Uppercut Studios are a hard-working bunch. The team – including Bioshock developers Edward Orman and Ben Driehuis – released Snowjinks in 2013, EPOCH and EPOCH 2 in 2014, Submerged in 2015, and Danger Dodgers last year. All of their titles were received well, but they’re unfortunately games I never got to play. City of Brass will be the first. Hoo boy, what an introduction.

City of Brass gets its name from an Arabian Nights tale but the inspirations don’t stop there. Everything about the game oozes Islamic Golden Age, from its soundtrack to the gorgeous visuals. Being an adventure game, City of Brass will have plenty of exploration and combat. Not just any combat; whip combat! Finally, all those years of playing Castlevania will have paid off! Oh, and you get a sword too but DUDE WHIP. Tripping enemies, potential for puzzles and swinging, there are at least three options! The game’s difficulty will be heavily modifiable as well, which is a feature I’m really looking forward to sinking my teeth into.

City of Brass leaves Steam early access on the 4th of May and will come to PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. You can check out more about the game on its website.
