Ubisoft has announced that the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been pushed back to March 20.
Initially planned for a November 2024 release, the latest instalment in the long-running action-stealth franchise was bumped to February 2025, which it has now slipped out of. According to a statement posted to the Assassin’s Creed social channels, an additional month of development time is required to make good on feedback provided by the community. Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté explained, “While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience.”

Taking additional time to polish a title is always fair, and we would prefer to experience a smooth product rather than a buggy mess, but the wording “implement that feedback” gives me pause. There seems to be quite a lot riding on this release of Ubisoft, with rumours and reports of a potential buyout looming, so all eyes are on the sales and quality of Shadows.
