Big news for people that are still mourning the apparent death of BlizzCon – mourn no more! The event returns after a two year hiatus, at the Anaheim Convention Center in September of 2026.

2023 was the initial return of the event, but afterwards the news was broken that the homecoming of all things Blizzard would not return in 2024. The announcement of the 2026 show now means people can guess that it will not return in 2025 either, so a two-year hiatus must be enough resting period to get things back on track.
There has been a lot of changes to Blizzard since 2023 – both to staff and the products, be they released or unreleased. We have seen a CEO step down (and make a nuisance of himself on Twitter/X) and entirely new games vanish into thin air, so it will be interesting to catch up on what is to be showcased during the grandest show Blizzard can muster. A real look at what is happening, and what comes next may well be on the cards – with a proper transparent focus on what is upcoming to help people re-acclimate.
I actually attended BlizzCon 2023 in partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, and had a blast of a time. But I also must admit that the itinerary shared at that event has had some massive shifts to it since being announced on stage. Given that it took place mere moments after the Microsoft acquisition of Blizzard, you could expect that a hefty dose of upheaval displaced what was supposed to come next – but corporate machinations are nothing if not baffling when attempting to understand them.
2026 will be Blizzard appearing in its most current form, post Microsoft and with a relatively stable slate. Consider me deeply curious (and more than a little hungry to find myself back on the floor of the Anaheim Convention Center).
