Broken Sword – Shadow Of The Templars: Reforged Will Feature A Story Mode And Tweaks For Cultural Sensitivity

Now the game won’t get up your goat

Last week Revolution Software made an appearance in Xbox’s Gamescom Showcase to announce Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, a 4K remaster of the highly-acclaimed 1996 original that is set to launch early in 2024, alongside the sixth entry in the series.

Revolution has confirmed that Reforged will feature several improvements, including enhancements to composer Barrington Pheloung’s famous soundtrack and as well as minor tweaks to make elements of the game more culturally appropriate.

Cecil tells Polygon that there are elements of the original game that have always worried him, and refers to a Syrian carpet seller NPC and a sequence where George can kiss Nico while she’s tied up as two examples where changes have been made for the better.

It’s also been revealed that Reforged will include a new Story Mode, which will make the experience easier for those who don’t want the toiling that can come with classic adventures.

The Story Mode will use a hint system that gives players a nudge whenever they haven’t progressed after a certain timeframe, as well as greying out inventory and environmental items that aren’t required to progress.

You can now wishlist Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged on Steam.
