Giger-Esque Horror Game Scorn Delayed Into 2022

Fans are scorned

Scorn, the H.R. Giger-inspired first-person horror game from Ebb Software has been delayed to 2022 the studio has confirmed via a Kickstarter update.

Posted on Saturday, the update went into a lot of detail, but the crux of the update was Scorn would not be released in 2021.

Given it’s November and we’ve barely heard anything about the game all year, the delay isn’t that surprising. However, the way the studio handled the announcement was, reeling off several reasons why the project has continued to have its release date shifted. The update revealed the while the scope of the game has increased, everything that the studio has done up until the middle of 2018 has been reworked, with 90% of it completely scrapped.

The update also threw shade at CD Projekt Red and Cyberpunk 2077, saying that “CD Projekt RED had great PR for Cyberpunk 2077 but that didn’t help when the final game. Cyberpunk 2077 should’ve been delayed for a year, but the hype and the pressure from shareholders were more important. Maybe if they didn’t push their developers to create marketing content they could’ve put more time into fixing the game.” The update went on to talk about the problems of ‘hype’ and development hell, before telling backers (which I am one) to essentially deal with the lack of updates or ask for a refund, an odd move considering the backers made the game possible in the first place.

Naturally, this didn’t go down well, with the studio’s CEO later issuing an apology, before the studio revealed plans to improve its communication with fans and backers.

Hopefully 2022 is the year that we see more of the game, which caught people’s attention during the Xbox E3 showing in 2020 with its creepy Giger-esque atmosphere.
