Goodbye Volcano High Delayed To 2022 With Narrative Rebooted

Graduation will have to wait

Goodbye Volcano High has been delayed to 2022 the game’s developer KO_OP announced this morning.

One of the reasons for the delay includes the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and a statement put out on the studio’s website explains that the studio wants to put the health and wellbeing of its employees first.

“It’s been a really hard year for many reasons, and the mental and physical health of the team has to come first. We don’t want to crunch, and we don’t want to put ourselves in stressful situations to finish the game by 2021 when we can take a little more time.”

The other reason, which came as a surprise, is that the game’s narrative has been given a reboot (you can read about it in detail here). The long and short of it is that in 2020, KO_OP decided to reboot the narrative and brought in the team at Sweet Baby Inc. to help craft a story the team is proud of.

It’s a bummer that we won’t be able to play as dino teenagers this year, but the delay will no doubt make for a better game and if it means better working conditions then we’re all for it.

Goodbye Volcano High will launch in 2022 on PS5, PS4 and PC.
