In Big Tech’s quest to be the latest and greatest, Google has announced its next lineup of Pixel devices, including the Google Pixel 10 Pro, Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 4, and new accessories.
First up is the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, which are launching in a week on August 28, along with the new Moonstone-flavoured Pixel Buds Pro 2. Pre-orders are open now at Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and other retailers.
So what’s new? This year features the new Tensor G5 processor under the hood, which not only enables enhanced performance but has also been designed to maximise the benefits of on-device AI. What are they you ask? The latest AI feature from Google is Magic Cue, which anticipates what you need and provides proactive and relevant information and helpful actions. The Pixel’s suite of AI tools for photography has received a couple new additions. Firstly is Camera Coach, a tool that makes suggestions to ensure you have the best angle and lighting. Best Take has also been upgraded with Auto Best Take, which scans your gallery for similar photos and combines them to make sure everyone looks their best.
Much like last year’s models, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL come with 16GB of RAM and in 128GB (Pro only), 256GB, 512GB and 1TB versions, but with the new Tensor G5 processor powering the devices, and the usual Obsidian and Porcelain colours are joined by Moonstone and Jade. I hope you’ve been saving your pennies, because as expected, they don’t come cheap, but thankfully there’s been no price hike. The Pixel 10 Pro XL will be priced at $1999 for 256GB, $2199 for 512GB and $2549 for 1TB, while the Pixel 10 Pro starts at $1699 for 128GB, $1849 for 256GB, $2049 for 512GB and $2399 for 1TB. When it comes to smartphone cameras, few do it better than Google, and once again the Pro models are loaded with a top-notch system that features a 50MP wide, 48MP ultrawide with Macro Focus and a 48MP 5x telephoto lens.
