Google Announces The Pixel 8a; Launching May 14 With Pre-Orders Open Today

Google’s mid-gen refresh is here

In an announcement that should come as no surprise, Google has announced the latest mid-gen refresh for its Pixel phone series – the Pixel 8a.

Launching May 14 for $849, the Pixel 8a is powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chip that will provide users with several features that can be found in the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, such as Gemini, Best Take, Audio Magic Eraser and more. The Pixel 8a will be available in three colours: Obsidian, Porcelain and Bay, and features a 6.1-inch Actua display that is 40% brighter than the 7a and provides a smooth scrolling experience thanks to a 12oHz refresh rate. It will also come in both 128GB and 256GB storage capacities and will include seven years of software support (from launch date).

As expected, the Pixel 8a is well-equipped in the camera department thanks to a dual rear camera with a 64-megapixel main lens and 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, as well as a 13-megapixel front facing camera for those selfie requirements.

The Pixel 8a will be available at Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, Telstra, Optus, and Harvey Norman on May 14 and is available for pre-order today.
