Google Reveals The Pixel 9 Series Phones While Confirming The Pixel 9 Pro Fold Is Coming To Australia

Google getting in early

Google has revealed all the details for its upcoming Pixel 9 series phones, the new Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds Pro, and confirmed that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is coming to Australia.

Despite the Pixel 8 series only launching in October last year and the Pixel 8a in May, Google is getting ahead of the competition with the Pixel 9 series, announcing four new models, three of which will launch on August 22 – the Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9, with pre-orders available now.

You’ll notice that this year there is a Pro XL and a Pro model, with the Pro XL replacing the previous Pro models in terms of screen size and the Pro offering all the same specs in a smaller form factor. All three models are powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 processor, which promises even better performance, juicier battery life and the most advanced Pixel AI experience yet. This newest line of Pixels has ditched the rounded chassis, opting for a square frame this time around. It’s a design that looks straight out of the iPhone playbook.

The Pixel 9 Pros will come with 16GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options (the Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a 1TB option in Australia), and in Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel and Rose Quartz colours. The Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.8-inch Super Actua display and will be priced at $1849 (128GB), $1999 (256GB), $2199 (512GB) and $2549 (1TB). While the Pixel 9 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Actua display and will cost $1699 (128GB), $1849 (256GB) and $2049 (512GB). Of course, Google has given both Pixel 9 Pros an improved camera system, with a 50MP Octa PD wide camera, 48MP Quad PD ultrawide camera and a 48MP Quad PD telephoto camera, and they also can capture 8K video thanks to video boost.

The Pixel 9, on the other hand, will have a 6.3-inch Actua display, 12GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB storage capacities, with a colour range including Obsidian, Porcelain, Wintergreen and Peony (pink). Pricing will start at $1349 (128GB) and $1499 (256GB). Camera-wise, the Pixel 9 will have a 50MP Octa PD wide camera and 48MP Quad PD ultrawide camera.

As the popularity of the fold phone continues to rise, it makes sense that Google would bring its second iteration of its Pixel Fold to the Australian market. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have a 6.3-inch Actual external display and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex internal display, 16GB of RAM, 256GB and 512GB storage options and will come in Obsidian and Porcelain colours. Unsurprisingly it will cost a small fortune, with 256GB priced at $2699 and 512GB $2899. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be available on September 2.

Google also revealed the Pixel Watch 3, which will now come in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm, and will have a brighter and bigger display, as well as an improved fitness offering. It will start at $579 for the 41mm WiFi version and will be available on September 10.

Lastly Google announced the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which will be available on September 26 for $379. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will offer users improved comfort, advanced noise cancelling and a higher-quality audio experience.
