Here’s Everything Announced In The Stacked September 2025 Nintendo Direct

A Direct of galactic proportions!

Nintendo just dropped one of its thickest, moistest Nintendo Direct presentations in a little while, kicking things off with a look into the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. before giving us a look at a gamut of new announcements, fresh trailers and more.

The full Direct is viewable here, but it’s a whole hour long, so let’s take a quick tour through every video game (and movie) trailer that featured in the presentation:

Here’s Everything Announced In The Stacked September 2025 Nintendo Direct

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The title of the next Mario movie from Nintendo and Illumination has finally been revealed, and fans of the Wii-era Super Mario Galaxy duology have reason to be very excited. Take a look at the beautiful title tease below, and then try and hold tight while we wait for it to premiere starting April 3, 2026 worldwide.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2

And that’s not all! Both Super Mario Galaxy games are headed to the Nintendo Switch very soon on October 2nd. They’ll feature an updated UI, control options, an in-game music player and new content, plus a free update for Switch 2 will arrive bringing 4K resolution to both titles.

Also, new Amiibos are coming based on Mario & Luma, and  Rosalina & Lumas, alongside the movie on April 2, 2026.

Mario Tennis Fever

A new entry in the Mario Tennis game is headed to Switch 2 on Feb 12, 2026. This one will have a whopping 38 playable characters, a cool-looking Adventure Mode and more. Should make quite the racket!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park

Not sure how I feel about these “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition +” repackages, but Super Mario Bros. Wonder was a great time, so here’s a chance to get even more of it. Coming in Autumn 2026, along with a physical Talking Flower gizmo that will get me absolutely broken up with when I buy one.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Game of the show, right here. Coming in Autumn 2026, this is the Yoshi’s Story spiritual successor I didn’t know I needed. Looks positively gorgeous, adorable, charming, beautiful, all the adjectives.

Storm Lancers

A side-scrolling roguelike. I’m gonna be real, I wasn’t paying attention to this one. But it’s out now-ish!

Dinkum

The PC folks have had this for a minute, but I’m sure it’ll delight Switch owners.

POPUCOM

What do you get when you mix Puyo PuyoSplatoon and It Takes Two? Well, hopefully something more imaginative than that reductive comparison, but also POPUCOM! I really like the look of this, and it’s coming towards the end of the year!

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Autumn 2026 is going to be a busy time for Nintendo fans, but for none more so than all of us who’ve been impatiently waiting for the new Tomodachi Life. This trailer has the juice.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection

Digital Eclipse does a banger video game compilation/interactive doco, so it’s great to see them tackle something like Mortal Kombat. Release starts on October 30 for the digital edition, too! Not far off!

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE

I recently had the chance to check out this Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Remake and it blew my bloody mind. It looks seriously impressive, even in handheld mode. Definitely a great way to play the game. Comes out January 22, 2026.

Lunked: Banner of the Spark

This definitely looks like a video game. I hope people like it. It’s out now, probably!

Hades II

Hell yeah, now we’re cookin’ with hellfire. Hades II is finally getting its V1.0 launch in less than two weeks. That’s not long at all! Naturally, this one’s gonna be on other platforms, as well.

Another Kirby Air Riders Direct, Somehow

Thank goodness. I have so many unanswered questions about the dull minutiae of Kirby Air Riders mechanical intricacies after that last Direct. The hot-swappable Amiibo look neat!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

At least this one looks like it runs mostly alright. January 22, 2026!

DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined

The Dragon Quest series is really making a comeback at the moment, but specifically all the games they already did are coming back! This is one of the few that I haven’t played, so I’m keen to finally check it out. February 5, 2026 isn’t long to wait at all.

Virtual Boy???

Okay, this one was kinda wild. Nintendo really said, “Remember inducing migraines and psychosis by enjoying virtual reality about three decades too early? We’re bringing it back!’

Not only are we getting the Virtual Boy games on Nintendo Switch Online, we’re getting the whole damn Virtual Boy. It’s a cool $139.95 and available to pre-order right here. Hoo (virtual) boy.

FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE

Babe, wake up, they’re remaking Project Zero 2 FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly in early 2026!

The Danganronpas Go Marhcing 2×2, Hurrah

This was the only trailer that Nintendo didn’t upload to its own YouTube channel from this Direct. Is that odd? I’m not sure if that’s odd. Anyway – banger-looking Danganronpa 2 remake coming to both Switch consoles next year!

A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Quartet

More Switch 2 Editions. More money.

PowerWash Simulator 2

I wish they’d stop dancing around the release date of this one, but I’m also happy to let them cook. Our deal is they cook, I clean.

Suika Game Planet

SUIKA GAME.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Samus on a motorbike in open zones feels like a strange thing to just drop in here, but let’s bloody go. December 4 is the day before my birthday, so if any of you are feeling generous…

Donkey Kong Bananza: DK Island & Emerald Rush DLC

Donkey Kong Bananza is getting paid DLC! Right now! The Emerald Rush mode looks incredibly my jam, and DK Island is yours to explore. Good stuff.

Pokémon Pokopia

Why isn’t this called Pokémon Dittopia?? Other than that, looks like a cute and fun time for folks into cute and fun games. Ditto.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A-X-Y

Another trailer for the new Legends joint. And then the reveal of DLC for the new Legends joint, which you can pre-order now. The expansion, that is. And the main game, obviously. Be weird if it was just the DLC.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins

A game I’m sure we were all hoping to see on the Switch 2 is coming to the Switch 2! There’s actually probably a decent audience for a this, though that new Hyrule Warriors also exists.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

Have you played the Monster Hunter Stories games? Are they good? They look good, but I’m not a Monster Hunter gal. But I could be? If they’re good?

Some More Games

I love a good sizzle reel.

Resident Evil Requiem + Resident Evil 7 and 8 for Switch 2

You can stop asking – Capcom has confirmed there’ll be a slightly-worse-looking version of its upcoming mainline Resident Evil game for folks to buy on February 27, 2026. Plus you’ll also be able to grab Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village for Switch 2 on the same day!

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

A new Fire Emblem game is coming to Switch 2 next year. The trailer looks hype as hell, so give it a red hot razz:

So there you have it, all the trailers from the big Nintendo Direct!
