Hold The Phone, Gubbins Is Now Available On Android

Let the words do the talking

After waiting patiently and enviously, Android users can now celebrate the launch of Gubbins on the Play Store, although it’s only available in Australia and New Zealand right now, the rest of the world’s Android users will be able to get their Gubbins fix on November 14.

If you’re an Apple user who has been lucky enough to have been playing since March this year, you’ll be excited to know that a juicy update has dropped for the game with a bunch of improvements and additions.

If you’re not sure what Gubbins is let’s get you up to speed. Gubbins is a simple and fun word-based game where players will use letter tiles to build words to earn points. So it’s like Scrabble you ask? Yes, but no. The hook here is that you’ll be given wildcards – called Gubbins – that will either help you score as many points as possible or play silly buggers with your letters by moving them around, locking parts of the board and more. It’s a great little title that can easily eat up more time than you intended to give it because of how charming, gorgeous and addictive it is, and it comes as no surprise that developer Studio Folly won Excellence in Sound Design at this year’s Australian Game Developer Awards because the sound work is fabulous.

Are you going to dive into the world of Gubbins on either Android or iOS? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
