A team of industry veterans who have worked on titles like Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous have come together to form ExoGenesis Studios – and recently unveiled their animated 2D action platformer, INAYAH – Life After Gods.
Set for release in 2025, this gorgeous Metroidvania-style game introduces you to an apocalyptic world where you step into the shoes of Inayah, an orphaned outsider who pummels, slashes and bashes her problems with a set of high-tech gauntlets – matching up against oddball bosses and dangerous environments in a world abandoned by its creators.
The trailer is a delight, with an incredible level of hand-drawn detail bringing both the world and it’s crazy inhabitants to life. There also seems to be a very cool focus on traversal, with many perilous hallways and pitfalls being deftly avoided.
Shared by the developers after a positive reception at Gamescom 2024, the features of INAYAH – Life After Gods include:
-
Three unique weapon forms with distinct combat and movement abilities
-
20 challenging bosses with individual mechanics and phases
-
Various character builds and abilities to customise
-
A companion, Sputnik, that you can upgrade
-
A large, hand-drawn 2D world filled with diverse biomes and hidden secrets
-
Multiple endings shaped by your choices
For an early development trailer, the offering on display for INAYAH is awesome. Those who love 2D action platformers are being positively spoilt as of late with amazing entries such as Ultros and Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown – and INAYAH looks like another excellent outing.
Keep an eye out for more INAYAH news as we edge ever closer to a release date, with a speculative period of Q1 2025 for PC and Q2 2025 for consoles.
