Developer Velan Studio has announced that the multiplayer dodgeball game Knockout City will shut down on July 6.
As revealed in a blog post on Velan Studio’s website, Game Director Jeremy Russo confirmed that the upcoming Season nine will be the game’s last. The primary reason for the closure of Knockout City comes down to player retention and the amount of content required to sustain an audience. Russo states, “Since we are a small, indie studio, it’s simply impossible for us to make those systemic changes in the live game while continuing to support it.
Beginning on February 28, season nine will kick off Knock Out City’s final run with new events and a new season pass taking the game through to its closure. All in-game transactions will be removed on February 28, though Velan will raise the rewards for each event to ensure that players get the most out of the game’s final few months.
We have an important announcement about the future of Knockout City.
Season 9 will be our final Season. All servers will be shut down on June 6th. We have more in store, so stay tuned!
