Solo developer Violoken has announced Little Mage – a 2D Metroidvania with exquisite hand-drawn visuals inspired by games like Hollow Knight coming to PC.
Announced during the recent Future Games Show, Little Mage is set in the once booming city of Hornedrose, now a shadow of its former glory after a catastrophic event that left the city in ruins and the sixteen ancient mages imprisoned as punishment. You play as an Æther Mage, the first to awaken after the catastrophe and are tasked with saving what’s left by defeating powerful enemies and uncovering the secrets to do so.
Violoken is leveraging their talents as an architect and art director to create an experience with a deep narrative, challenging boss fights and responsive platforming. However, the hook, at least before going hands-on, has to be its truly stunning hand-drawn art that is rich in colour and detail.
No release information has been announced, but you can find a lot more information on the Little Mage website.
