Mahokenshi Is An Upcoming Turn-Based Tactics Game With A Deckbuilding Twist

Samurai of Might & Magic

A real treat for the slow and methodical gamer, Mahokenshi is dropping shortly and looks to combine magical samurai on a hex-tile map with turn-based, deckbuilder-driven strategy combat. A real tasty mix of genre buzzwords.

Releasing on January 25, developer Game Source Studio cites the best board game influences as inspiring the heart of Mahokenshi’s gameplay loop.

Players will lead one of four unique samurai mage houses across a beautiful 3D overworld, building upon their base deck of combat abilities with over 200 illustrated cards.

Those who have enjoyed deckbuilders like Slay The Spire and turn-based tactics games like last year’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns ought to keep a close eye on these clans battling it out in the Celestial Lands. While exploring these hex-grid lands, monsters will block narrow paths hiding villages, additional cards, and side quests.

Mahokenshi releases on PC via Steam on January 25.

Perhaps Mahokenshi’s turn-based adventuring will serve as a welcoming invitation for players new to deckbuilders. Have you caught the deckbuilding bug yet? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
