Developer Bungie has announced that its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, will release on March 5 across PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
In June of last year, after receiving considerable feedback from fans and testers, Bungie delayed Marathon out of 2025, with no release scheduled at the time. Last month, the studio reintroduced the game to the public, having made some significant changes and additions to the core gameplay, while committing to a March 2026 release window. Today, the creators of Destiny and Halo dropped a new trailer for the sci-fi first-person shooter, locked in a March 5 release date, and revealed a few extra bits and pieces to go alongside the game’s launch.
The trailer is short and sweet, depicting the tense PvP scenarios players may encounter while playing the extraction shooter. We get a few glimpses at gunplay, character abilities, and a cheeky tease of the game’s endgame content at the tail end of the trailer.

Marathon’s release date isn’t the only bit of news to come from Bungie and PlayStation today. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, a Marathon-themed limited-edition DualSense controller has also been revealed. The white handset features the neon green Marathon logo on the touchpad, accompanied by game-related graphics covering the left and right grips. A big old MARATHON text stamp adorns the back side of the controller as well, just in case you forget which game it relates to. The controller will release alongside the game on March 5, with pre-orders going live on January 29.
