As part of the celebrations and spotlights of 2024 Tokyo Game Show, a look at the upcoming Transformers X Monster Hunter Collaboration figure was shown – with a fully realised trailer showcasing that Optimus Prime will suit up as ‘Rathalos Prime’, complete with Monster Hunter styled weapons and Rathalos alt mode!
The trailer is a bit of fun (though I have to say, the WhatsApp notifications and volume adjustment during it positively SENT me) and shows off that the figure is far from a lazy tie in. At times, Hasbro/Takara have been guilty of offering very low effort repaints for some events, but this is a proper re-tool of a previous figure named Airazor – doing an admirable job of capturing both Prime and the big Rath as bots:
The use of Rath’s tail as a weapon is downright inspired, and does a lot to make sure that giant wyvern looks every bit as intimidating as it should.
The trailer ends with details stating that preorders will happen September 27, so if you are interested you may want to look to your robot retailer of choice to see if they will be stocking the firebreather.
