PlayStation Has Acquired Savage Game Studios

An acquisition made on the go

PlayStation has announced that it has acquired mobile developer Savage Game Studios.

Announced on the PlayStation Blog, the studio will join a newly created PlayStation Studios Mobile Division. This branch of PlayStation will be operating independently from console development and will be working towards creating “on-the-go experiences based on new and existing PlayStation IP.”

Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios, said in the blog post, “Our mobile gaming efforts will be similarly additive, providing more ways for more people to engage with our content, and striving to reach new audiences unfamiliar with PlayStation and our games.”

Founded in 2020 and comprised of developers with years of experience in the mobile scene, Savage Game Studios is currently working on a AAA mobile live service action game. However, “it’s too early to reveal more.”

We’ve already seen PlayStation IPs like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Marvel’s Spider-Man make their way to PC, so it doesn’t seem like an out-of-the-blue move for PlayStation to make. What will be interesting to see is which franchises will make the leap to mobile.

What do you think of this acquisition? What PlayStation IP do you think should head to mobile? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
