Pokémon Sword and Shield Versions Announced

From a short but sweet announcement

The eight generation of Pokémon has begun.

In today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Sword and Shield versions. The seven-minute presentation also revealed the following:

  • The games will take place in the Galar region. Galar’s aesthetic is heavily inspired by the landscapes of Britain: Lovely private school uniforms, smokey cities, lush green fields and even hill chalk art!
  • The starter Pokémon (seen above) are the water lizard Sobble, the flame rabbit Scorbunny, and the grass chimp Grookey.
  • Sword and Shield versions will launch in ‘Late 2019’.

That was all from the presentation so far, but it did promise that Pokémon fans would have more to look forward to in 2019 – but I think we’re comfy for now. You can watch the Direct in full below or check out the Pokémon website:

Pokémon may be the biggest franchise in the world, but did you know that it almost never left Japan? You can find out why here!
