For a while, Razer‘s collaboration with everyone’s favourite vein of pure, uncut nostalgia, Pokémon, was doomed to delight folks in very specific parts of the world while leaving the rest with blue (Poké)balls.
But now, hot off of having just launched a Kanto-themed Razer x Pokémon collection in global regions, the ubiquitous peripheral purveyor has dropped an arguably even more exciting product for the first time outside of Asian markets – the Kraken Kitty V2 – Gengar Edition.
After launching late last year in China, the Kraken Kitty V2 – Gengar Edition is available right now on Razer’s official store and will be headed to local retailers in ANZ, such as JB Hi-Fi, very soon.

Priced at an RRP of $239.95 AUD / $279.95 NZD, this is essentially a customised version of the existing, wired Kraken Kitty V2 headset with a bit of an additional Pokémon tax, though to be fair it is very bespoke in its design with a striking purple colourway, Gengar’s trademark spikes on top and even some spooky silhouettes printed inside the earcups that are lit by the headsets’ Chroma RGB.
In terms of tech features, you’re getting the same 40mm Razer TriForce drivers, HyperClear cardioid mic and 7.1 surround sound, so the thing has decent gaming chops outside of looking pretty neat.

“This launch celebrates the incredible community that has supported both Razer and Pokémon over the years,” writes Addie Tan, Razer’s Global Head of Lifestyle Division, in a press release.
“Our partnership with The Pokémon Company International continues to evolve in exciting ways, bringing together beloved Pokémon and cutting-edge technology. With Gengar joining the lineup, we are expanding a collection that connects generations through play, nostalgia, and performance. Now, we’re excited to bring that same energy to fans around the world.”
Which is a fancy way of saying, “We made a heap of money on these Gengar headsets but we know we can make more.”
I can’t wait to buy one.
