A big action packed trailer for Star Wars Outlaws has hit the internet, and with it comes the reveal of an actual release date.
Step into the role of Kay Vess, a pickpocket turned thief when Star Wars Outlaws releases this August and help her navigate the iconic criminal underworld of a galaxay far, far away.
With a massive collection of deplorable reprobates to interact with, including the corpulent Jabba the Hutt, it looks like this title is aiming to be a sprawling adventure through the seediest pockets of deep space.
Surprising no one, the game also has a range of editions for you to preorder – with the usual spread of additional content including the dreaded ‘play the game a few days early’ ransom edition. The versions are as follows:
- Star Wars Outlaws (Standard Edition)
- Preordering will also net your some gritty cosmetics for your speeder and spacecraft
- Star Wars Outlaws: Gold Edition
- The gold edition of the game includes the base game, the preorder bonus, the season pass and 3 days early access
- Star Wars Outlaws: Ultimate Edition (Digital Only)
- The Ultimate Edition has all the gold edition goodies, and also includes the ‘Rogue Infiltrator bundle’ cosmetic pack, the ‘Sabacc Shark bundle’ cosmetic pack and a Digital art book
As far as the season pass is concerned, outlets are mentioning that it includes some additional narrative missions that are scheduled for post-launch, and some cosmetic items to dress up your outlaw and their vehicles. Because we live in a realm where singleplayer games need a Season Pass. Of course.
It is exciting to see the game leaning into a side of the universe that is often mentioned and glimpsed at during the heyday of the Empire Vs. Rebellion spat – but will the narrative be content in letting that story play out without getting involved with the galactic war? Only time will tell.
Star Wars Outlaws arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 30.
