Mario has been running, jumping, stomping, karting, partying and cleaning, among many other activities, for over three decades now, meaning that there’s a staggering amount of moustachioed-plumber content out there. Super Mario Maker 2 (which we gave a 9), while it doesn’t contain it all, does give players a massive portion of that content to create their very own levels.
Post launch we’ve seen a number of updates adding more components, power-ups and even crossover items like the Master Sword.
Now that we are approaching a year since the game’s release, one final major update is on its way and you won’t need to wait long at all. Available for download tomorrow (April 22), the World Maker Update’s biggest new addition is just that, the ability to create worlds.
You’ll be able to choose the terrain, routes, course icons, bonus stages, warp pipes and more. Once you’ve created your world you can populate it with your own courses and upload it for others to play. You can create up to eight worlds containing up to 40 courses in total, allowing you to get creative or, if you’re like me, allowing for other people to get creative so that you can play their worlds instead.

The update will also add:
Power-ups
- Super Mario Bros. 2 Mushroom (allowing you to ride and pick up enemies)
- The Frog Suit (otherwise known as the best power-up that allows for easy swimming and water running)
- Power Balloon (makes the player float like a balloon)
- Super Acorn (turns the player into squirrel Mario, letting you glide)
- Boomerang Flower (giving you a boomerang weapon)

Wearables
- Cannon Box (you can shoot cannonballs from your head)
- Propeller Box (gives you three boosts into the air)
- Red Pow Box (acts like a normal Pow Box and has three uses)
- Goomba Mask (lets you blend in and not get attacked by enemies, you can even do the Goomba walk)
- Bullet Bill Mask (lets you shoot across the screen like a Bullet Bill for a limited time)
Enemies
- The Koopalings (Larry, Wendy, Morton, Lemmy, Roy, Iggy, and Ludwig will be available to use)
- The Phanto (when you pick up the Cursed Key it will pursue the player)
- Mechakoopas (wind-up enemies that come in three different varieties)
