Developer Surgent Studios has revealed that acclaimed actors Neil Newbon and Ben Starr will portray the protagonists of its horror title, Dead Take.
Properly revealed last month, Dead Take is a first-person, upcoming psychological horror game from the studio behind Tales of Kenzera: ZAU , that aims to expose the darker aspects behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. Creative Director Abubakar Salim has now revealed that Ben Starr and Neil Newbon will portray the game’s protagonists, although it is unclear whether this will be a dual-protagonist situation or something more experimental.
Starr, known for his voice roles in Final Fantasy XVI and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, will portray Vinny Monroe, while Newbon, beloved for his performance as Astorian in Baldur’s Gate 3, will play Chase Lowry. Both characters are actors vying for the same role, while also searching for a friend who has gone missing after a rowdy party in the Hollywood Hills.
In a newly released trailer, we see both leading men auditioning for the role of ‘Willie’, before things take a rather unsettling turn. Small snippets of gameplay are shown, depicting some reality-warping visuals and foreboding architecture, as well as the game’s video splicing mechanic, which will be central to the gameplay. The short trailer makes this clear from the outset, but we also know these splicing segments will feature live-action scenes, in which Neil and Ben will appear.
