Great news for early 3D era platformer tragics who grew up on tank controls and 1MB memory cards – the upcoming modern remaster of Croc Legend of the Gobbos has just been given a firm release date by developer Argonaut Games and it’s coming out in just a couple of weeks.
Launching on April 2nd for all major console platforms and PC, this new version of a bonafide PS1 classic reportedly sports fancy new high-def graphics, updated controls and camera system, and refined gameplay mechanics. It’ll also include the Crocipedia, which features a collection of design documents, concept art, animation tests, pre-release music tracks, and heaps more.
“We are thrilled to bring Croc Legend of the Gobbos to a new generation of gamers,” writes studio founder Jez San in a press release. “Our team has worked tirelessly to preserve the charm and nostalgia of the original game while introducing modern enhancements that make it even more enjoyable on today’s consoles and PCs. We can’t wait for players to dive into Croc’s world and experience the magic again.”
The new Release Date Trailer for Croc Legend of the Gobbos certainly gives the impression of a faithful but thoughtfully touched-up new version of the game, looking sharp and seemingly playing a lot more smoothly without any drastic alterations or technological updates.
