The Day Before’s Newest Gameplay Confirms Playable Female Characters But Did Little To Reassure Players

Don’t forget your runners this apocalypse

As promised, Fntastic dropped 10 minutes of gameplay for its upcoming survival MMO The Day Before, and while it was good to see new footage of the game, it’s safe to say that people still have a lot of questions after the showing.

The footage was supposed to give people insight into the “majority of the features and gameplay elements” but instead the showing felt scripted and barely showed any gameplay mechanics. Although we did get confirmation that female/feminine characters are playable after previous trailers were essentially a dude fest.

The trailer kicked off with a female character jogging through the suburbs with another survivor, however no communication between the two occurs. The pair then enter an abandoned house and use the crafting bench, and it’s here we see the player dismantling loot and the weapons modifications system in action. We then see the weapon in action as the pair take down a couple of zombies before being treated to more jogging as the pair enter what appears to be the quarantined CBD area of The Day Before’s world. From here the pair jog around a lot, find some loot and shoot the odd zombie. There was no sign of the driving or base building mechanics, no indication of what the mission was or how they will work in the game, including the Woodbury Colony where players can mingle with one another.

While it’s hard not to be impressed by the scope and scale of the world, disappointingly it feels devoid of any real zombie threat. In total, the duo took maybe 6-8 zombies in the trailer, and at no point were they ever in any real danger. Hopefully, this is more a reflection of this trailer than the experience the game will offer. Naturally, those tuning in were far from convinced, with many highlighting the empty world and lack of action taking place.

In other news, Fntastic says that it is hoping to restore the game’s Steam page soon, and that any email correspondence asking for cooperation from streamers to promote the title is a scam.
