En Garde! has been out for a little while now, and the stellar indie title about a rapscallion with a blade has been well received.
Except for one silly doofus that decided to drop an ice-cold take regarding their reason for skipping the game – which was the main character’s love interest.
Sure, this kind of stuff happens every day on the world wide web – perhaps every other minute, really.
But the response from the fantastic team at Fireplace Games is downright exceptional, featuring a brilliant MSPaint-ified re-telling of the famous “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it” line for their heroine:
Good for you, now let's say it one more time 👏 https://t.co/vc5Hhhn6iK pic.twitter.com/4GbHh4uAyQ

A hastily edited image delivers a stunning riposte for the heroine of En Garde!, the legendary Adalia de Volador – clearing up any confusion if people really need a solid confirmation of any romantic interests.
It has easily skyrocketed to be the most prolific piece of En Garde! marketing in both the lead up to release, and post launch – becoming a case study in relatable marketing.
Sometimes you just need a copy of MSpaint and a 2 minute response to some outdated thinking, and bam – you captured some lightning.
To wrap up, I will leave you with a slightly more mean spirited response – albeit one that still made me giggle.

If you are yet to take a look at En Garde!, they have just released a stunning launch trailer for the title which is well worth a look.
Our very own Zach Jackson even reviewed the game, explaining that it is “a fun, humorous and stylish frolic through a colourful 17th century Spain that pays homage to Zorro and the golden age of swashbuckling adventures.”
We even have a review video if you want to hear his dulcet tones.
Hopefully that covers all the bases. Give it a crack, it’s a great time.
