The highly anticipated anime adaption of NieR:Automata has been officially postponed just three episodes into its originally scheduled run.
The TV animated series, titled NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a and produced by A-1 Pictures, re-tells the video game’s highly acclaimed narrative while adding its own unique perspective of the dystopian Earth ravaged by an alien created machine army, and two key androids in 2B and 9S who are sent to aid the humans who remain on the planet’s surface.
The surprise news comes direct from the official twitter account, which confirms continued issues with COVID-19 that have hampered production on the show ahead of the planned release of episode four.

There’s currently no timetable for a return for the show or how many episodes remain to be aired, though hopefully we won’t have to wait too long and it won’t be a sign of further delays of other anime or video game projects out of Japan.
