The Palamute, A Review

The best doggo all the way from Japan

While I’ve always liked dogs, I haven’t really had one in my life full time for many years. Instead I have a couple of cheeky cats to satisfy my furbaby needs. While I have never been immune to the allure of cute things, little did I suspect that I would cave so easily to include a new furbaby in my life.

Storm has well and truly made himself at home on the couch

It all started late last year where thanks to the wonder of the Internet I laid my eyes on a particularly rare breed, the Palamute, though to my dismay it was geographically restricted to Japan. I agonised over the logistics of somehow bringing one all the way to Australia, but in reality it wasn’t up for debate. Thanks to an understanding and awesome friend in Japan, who purchased and sent my furry pal all the way to me, I was able to add a new member to my family and it has been a joyful experience.

The confines for travel were necessarily tight, but he is free now

Storm came to me fully grown, at an extensive 55cm in size not including his long tail. His fur is so soft that you can’t help but bury your face in it. I felt a little bad at the restrictive means by which he had to travel to Australia, cruelly vacuum packed into a bag the size of a matchbox. Sea travel is a bitch, but I am treating him like a king now. One of the best perks of this breed is there is no shedding! His fur is two-tone and such a mystical purple-blue with white, it’s almost as if he’s from another world. I do love him for how incredibly low maintenance he is.

I think this breed is perfect for the introverted world we now live in, particularly for the germaphobe who doesn’t want to stray outside as limited walks are needed. Storm more than makes up for it in cuddles though.

Final Thoughts

If you have the opportunity and the means you will not regret bringing a Palamute into your life. Prepare your lap and your heart for never-ending cuddles and steadfast loyalty.
